Lunch time
Hot meals are provided by Nourish Catering. They conform to the new government healthy standards and the lunch cost is £3 per day. Menus can be accessed above.
School lunches should be paid for in advance or on the day via Arbor
Parents will be contacted and asked to provide a packed lunch or payment on the day if a lunch has not been paid for in advance.
Facilities are also provided for children to eat a packed lunch. We encourage parents to ensure that packed lunches are healthy and wholesome. More information is available from the school office. Also see below for links to some ideas from the NHS website. Please ensure there are no nuts / nut based items due to allergies. Please also no fizzy drinks or energy drinks.
The school caterers standard menu is nut-free and they can also cater for most other allergies. Please contact the school office for more information.
We sometimes have special menus - see above
Snacks
Children may bring fruit for break times. We do not allow children to bring sweets or chocolate into school.
We ask parents not to include nuts or nut products (eg peanut butter, Nutella) in snacks or packed lunches due to allergies within the school.
Years R/1/2 get free fruit at break time which we encourage them to eat.
'Snack-tember'
During September (& after) we are looking at snacks and how the children can eat healthier snacks. This is through the British Nutrition Foundation.
What is Snack-tember all about? We want to improve children and young people’s knowledge, skills, confidence and motivation, so that they can make and choose healthier, more sustainable snacks.
Throughout September 2025, we are helping children and young people to:
- Explore better snacking
- Try new snacks
- Make their own healthy snacks
Our aim is to help children and young people choose and make snacks that have:
- MORE vegetables and fruit
- MORE wholegrains, beans and pulses
- LESS saturated fat, salt and sugars
We hope that this will give children the option to choose a healthier option for a snack maybe each week - and send a picture to the school office of them trying something new that they may not have tried before. We would love to see them.
Packed Lunches
For children who bring lunch to school, we encourage them and parents, to make healthy choices and provide a balanced diet, although we are all human and understand the attraction of an occasional treat. Our dedicated staff help monitor the quality of children’s lunches and encourage them not to waste. We will try our best to inform you if your child is not eating their lunch.
Please ensure your child's lunch box does not contain any nuts or nut products due to allergies. Also no fizzy drinks or energy drinks are allowed.

Free School Meals
Universal Free School Meals for Infants
For year R/1/2
From September 2014 the Government have funded schools in England to provide every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 with a meal at lunch time. All you need to do to claim your child’s free school meal for your child to let the teacher know they are having a school meal that day. The teacher will ask them what they want each day from the menu.
Pupil Premium
For all year groups
In addition to the Universal Free School Meals for Infants, the Government gives additional money to schools for every pupil who is registered for Free School Meals. This funding is called ‘Pupil Premium’. Eligibility is entirely confidential and children confirm that they wish to have a hot or packed lunch meal each morning, in the same way as everyone else at the school.
Being registered for Pupil Premium means that we will have an additional £935 per annum, per registered pupil, in the school’s budget.
To be eligible for free school meals the child’s family must be in receipt of one of the following benefits.
-
Income Support
-
Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
-
Child Tax Credit (not including Working Tax Credit) if the household income is below £16,190
-
Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
-
An Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Kent County Council have launched an online Free School Meals application service including an eligibility assessment to establish whether you have an entitlement to Free School Meals.
This can be accessed at http://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools/free-school-meals
The school is able to apply on your behalf and all we will need is your birth date and National Insurance number. The school will be notified automatically of any successful applications.
